Closure Systems International accepted an incentive payment September 5, 2012, from Kilgore Economic Development Corp. after investing $4 million in new equipment at the company’s Kilgore, Texas, location.

Rick Perry with its inaugural Governor's Award 2012. The award is given to the governor most successful in attracting new investments to their state.

When the East Texas Pump Jacks returned home Monday after losing the first game of the Texas Collegiate League Championship Series at Victoria, coach Ben Taylor and his team crafted a game plan to win two games here, and their first championship.

Poor conditions Monday nixed a planned practice flight before the first day of competition Tuesday, but that kickoff contest in the 2012 races went off without a hitch under “perfect” skies, Dr. Bill Bussey said. Predictions promise ideal flying weather today and throughout the end of the Great Texas Balloon Race.
“The forecast is going to be perfect,” said Bussey, a GTBR director and founder. “Our meteorologist said we’ll get all flights and all glows in,” including today’s race over Kilgore.
Set to be flown and finished in the early morn- ing hours, the second day of races are critical for the pilots’ points. The balloonists will descend on Kilgore once again tonight for the Kilgore Balloon Extravaganza sponsored by the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce.
