Lloyd Bolding 2008 'Citizen of the Year'

A huge 'Congratulations' is in order for Lloyd Bolding, recipient of the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce's  2008 Citizen of the Year award.  Bobby Beane, current Vice-President of the KEDC Board of Directors and the chamber's 2007 Citizen of the Year, introduced Bolding as the year's top citizen at the 78th Annual Kilgore Chamber Banquet Tuesday, February 3rd. 

Bolding has served the Kilgore community since he and his wife, Evelyn, first came to Kilgore in 1961.  Bolding, an Oklahoma native, now retired, started and operated several businesses through the years with his petroleum engineering degree, including CECO Equipment, Acid Engineering, Dyna-Test and Dyna-Coil. 

Stated as living with a 'don't give up attitude' and being 'a behind the-scenes promotor of our city', Bolding has served the community through several facets over the years.  His community services are quite extensive and include President of Kilgore Economic Development Corporation; President of Meadowbrook Country Club; Co-chairman of the fund-raising committee for the Women's Center addition at Laird Memorial Hospital; Sponsor of the Small Fry Fishing Tournament for the American Cancer Society; Instructor of well stimulation courses at Kilgore College through the University of Texas Extension Division. 

He has actively supported the Boys and Girls Club of Kilgore, Habitat for Humanity, Helping Hands, the Kilgore Crisis Center and the Texas Shakespeare Festival.  In addition, he has served on several boards which include that of East Texas Baptist University, Kilgore ISD, East Texas Treatment Center, Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation, Allied Citizen Bank and Regions Bank. He presently serves on the board of the East Texas Regional Airport Economic Development Board.
