What does the Texas Two Step have to do with economic development? Or the Boys and Girls Club? Or any other philanthropic organization, for that matter? It has to do with the business climate in Kilgore, what others may call quality of life. And it's important to economic development.
I serve on the advisory board of the Boys and Girls Club. Just recently I hosted a table at a fundraising event and had the fun of dressing as Pocahontas beside John Smith, portrayed by KEDC Marketing and Development Director, Jana Russell. It was a dual fundraiser, as acknowledged in the title "Texas Two Step" with half the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club and half to Habitat for Humanity. The event was fun, supported worthwhile causes and contributed to that elusive quality known as quality of life. Kilgore will be better for it.
In the community we are partners, and partners working together make great things happen. To that I say, "Anybody want to dance?"
