Dr. Charles H. Whiteside, founder and president of Ana-Lab Corporation in Kilgore, received the Don Kaspar Award from the Texas Association of Business at the organization’s annual conference recently.
According to the TAB, the award was presented “in recognition and appreciation of his lifelong, tireless dedication to the promotion and protection of the Texas Business community through the Texas Association of Business.” Dr. Whiteside has been an active participant with the TAB for 35 years. During this tenure, he has won a life membership for recruiting new members and a seat on the board of directors.
The mission of the Texas Association of Business is to be Texas’ leading employer organization, working to improve the Texas business climate and to help make the Texas economy the strongest in the world. For more than 85 years, TAB has been on the front lines of the legislative, regulatory, and judicial battlefields, fighting for every issue that impacts business to ensure that employers’ opinions are being heard. More than 90% of legislators and their staff rated TAB as better than other organizations in communicating their position on issues.
Ana-Lab Corp. was founded in 1965 by Dr. Whiteside. The corporation is now an employee-owned organization with offices in four states.
Amanda Nobles, Director of Economic Development for KEDC said, “In a very competitive market, developing and growing small businesses is a valuable economic development tool. Ana-Lab is a great example of the importance of small business to a city.
Ana-Lab’s services include a wide variety of analyses, including air quality, hazardous waste classification, water and wastewater, soils and sludge, and petroleum testing. Clients include Texas Eastman Company, City of Tyler, Oklahoma City, City of Brownsville and Angus Chemical in Louisiana.
Ana-Lab supports a number of community organizations, including the Rotary Club and foundations associated with World Hunger. Recently, the company sponsored a free patriotic concert at Kilgore College featuring performances by students in the music department with proceeds going towards alleviating world hunger.
