Kilgore, TX – Gregg County, Kilgore Economic Development Corporation and Longview Economic Development Corporation are offering a Foreign Trade Zone seminar March 2, 2010, from 9 AM to noon at the LeTourneau flight facility to introduce area manufacturers to the new Alternate Site Framework (ASF) designation of the Gregg County Foreign Trade Zone. The flight facility if located at East Texas Regional Airport on FM 349.
The ASF is a new benefit for businesses. The U.S. Department of Commerce recently approved the modification of Gregg County’s Foreign Trade Zone into the (ASF), the first of its kind in the country.
The new designation will allow companies located within Gregg County to secure Foreign Trade Zone status for warehousing and distribution operation within approximately 30 days, faster than the usual timeframe. Manufacturing companies benefit from the streamlined procedures as well.
Gregg County and Kilgore Economic Development Corporation joined forces last year to apply to enter its Foreign Trade Zone into the ASF.
“I am proud that Gregg County is the first in the nation to achieve ASF status for our Foreign Trade Zone,” Said Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt. “We enjoy partnering with Kilgore Economic Development and our other economic development corporations to offer options that benefit businesses in Gregg County. We want to ensure Gregg County is competitive with locations in Texas, the United States and the world.”
For more information or to register for the seminar, please contact Virginia Hall of East Texas Regional Airport at 903.643.3031 or Amanda Nobles of KEDC at 903.983.3522 or Susan Mazarakes at 903.753.7878.
