Texas Shakespeare Festival Foundation to introduce Gala
Kilgore-To celebrate the 25th season of the Texas Shakespeare Festival, the TSF Foundation has revived the fund raising Gala to ensure the festival's longevity in East Texas and sustain the quality of its productions.
Susan Coppedge and Delisa Barbee, co-chairs of the original Gala, are recreating the magic at Meadowbrook Country Club June 19, 7-10 p.m. The TSF cast will provide spontaneous entertainment, and the Meadowbrook Country Club staff will prepare a cocktail buffet under the menu direction of Coppedge.
She currently teaches culinary classes and has been involved with cooking since 1980 at the Stockpot in Longview and has taken class with renowned chefs such as Wolfgang Puck and Julia Child. Coppedge and her husband, Dr. John Coppedge, and Kim and Dr. Matt Holcomb will host four cooking lessons for eight people including meals and wine from the Holcombs’ wine cellar as one of the live auction items. Other auction items include:
· A champagne hot air balloon flight with pilot Rick James by Sundance Balloons
· An African safari dinner for 24 people at Danville Farms hosted by Evelyn and Lloyd Bolding, Pat and Gary Boyd, Bart Crowley, Janie and Karl Edmonds and Betty and Tom Mobley
· Four tickets to the penthouse of Texas Motor Speedway Sunday November 7, by Gregg Industrial Insulators and the Merritt Family
· A Scimitar Horned Oryx hunt at Tequesquite Ranch in Del Rio, Texas for one hunter and one guest hosted by Jack Phillips
“The Foundation decided a 25th season should not go unnoticed,” said Lynn Wells, TSF Foundation president. “It is exciting to reconnect with some of the earlier supporters who were so important in helping to establish the foundation. This is a very special occasion to celebrate a very special event in East Texas.”
Wine and beer will be offered, and the attire is summer cocktail. For more information or tickets call 903.984.3038. Invitations are open to the public and tickets are available in person for $70 each at the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce and Barron’s in Longview.
