The Kilgore Economic Development Corp. has recognized three companies for business improvements and expanding or maintaining employment under economic development agreements with the corporation.
Halliburton earned $300,000 for the first phase of improvements at its FM 349 facility in Kilgore. The company has said it will invest up to $12.1 million and create 120 jobs during the next three years.
The East Texas Council of Governments was awarded the first of three, $33,333 payments as part of a three-year agreement to renovate its headquarters in Kilgore and maintain 50 employees. The organization employs 61 people at its Kilgore facility, the economic development corporation reported.
Also, HighPoint Packaging earned $46,000 in the second year of a three-year contract. The company invested $1 million in personal property and added seven full-time employees, one more than required.
"I think it is extremely important to note these companies are meeting and sometimes exceeding the economic commitments they have with KEDC," said KEDC Executive Director Amanda Nobles. "Supporting the retention and expansion of these companies is vital, especially in our current economy."
