As I begin my term as President of the North East Texas Economic Developers' Roundtable and set goals for the organization, I am pleased that professional economic developers in East Texas have chosen to work together.  While other groups are dedicated to regional marketing, NETEDR remains special because its mission is to equip regional economic developers with the skills necessary to grow our regional economy.

Maybe someone in the next community has faced a similar situation. Perhaps there is a topic we all need to hear.  That's where NETEDR comes in.  We can  provide opportunities that  enable our members to do the best job possible.  We want our economic development services to be the equivalent or better that anyone's in the country.

Do the individual communities these professionals represent compete against each other for jobs and investment?  Absolutely.  But they compete appropriately and for the benefit of the region. And that is in everyone's best interest.
