Unquestionably the most scenic facility of its kind in East Texas, the “industrial park” operated by Kilgore Economic Development Corporation is a collection of manufacturing, distribution and office facilities with almost 300 jobs. There are industrial parks on every corner in East Texas – several in Kilgore, in fact – but there’s only one so lovely you’d consider it an ideal place for a lunch-break picnic.
Who could imagine you’d ever have an industrial park on your list of “must see” places for out-of-town visitors? We love Synergy Park.

What makes this “vertical” aerial photograph so unique is that the detail is so sharp that individual football players can plainly be seen working out on the practice field of Kilgore High School and power lines are clearly visible.
Most of the more traditional aerial photographs are called “oblique” images and are shot through a side window port in the airplane and at an angle to the ground. The system used by Hedrick to make the 30x40- inch image of Kilgore is called “vertical” aerial photography and the images are shot through the belly of the plane, lens pointed straight down at the ground.
However, there is much more to the process than simply shooting an image straight down through the belly of the airplane.
