Kilgore Economic Development Corporation Thursday was one of 35 communities to receive an award of recognition from the Texas Economic Development Council for economic excellence. The organization presented the awards at the TEDC 2010 Spring Awards Breakfast in Arlington during the group’s annual spring conference.
Kilgore Economic Development today awarded General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies an incentive payment of $150,000.00 after the company met the requirements of an economic development agreement with the organization.
KEDC agreed this week to sell six acres to Louis Hall, owner of H&W Industrial Services in Longview. The real estate is in North Kilgore Industrial Park. Hall expects to move his company here by the end of summer. The firm will move from the gum, Valley area in western Harrison County.
Seasonal celebrations kept those less fortunate in mind at Kilgore Allied Waste Service. Employees there raised $1,150 for Helping Hands. The largest source of the donation was a ticket drawing at the company’s annual Christmas party, where many of the company’s 98 employees ponied up the cash to brighten the season for others.
Kilgore’s Main Street program has earned national honors for the third year in a row. The Texas Historical Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation have recognized Kilgore as one of the 56 National Main Street Cities in Texas.
