KILGORE — Twitter, Youtube and Flickr were the main topics of discussion at a Kilgore Economic Development Corp. media luncheon for human resources professionals this past week.

"Social media has made its way into the workplace, and employers are having a hard time policing it. It can be a good tool and a bad tool," said attorney Rosemary Sage Jones, guest speaker of the luncheon.

KILGORE — A local oilfield equipment manufacturer burned the midnight oil to create the biggest project in the company's history.

S&K Supply, which specializes in pump packages and services, on Thursday shipped five highly specialized seawater pumps to Congo, West Africa.

Kids will have the opportunity to do a little trout fishing next month as part of a cooperative effort between the state’s wildlife department and Kilgore Economic Development Corporation. And they can end the day with tubing on the Chamber of Commerce snow hill.

UPDATE: Baker Petrolite will invest $10 million in Kilgore facility

Kilgore Economic Development Corporation directors unanimously approved an agreement Tuesday night with an existing company that will bring a $10 million investment to the city and the promise to retain 75 jobs here. Baker Petrolite, a subsidiary of Baker Hughes Inc., will invest $9 million to expand its facility and $1 million for additional equipment and personal property at its Hwy. 42/Paluxy Street location.

Kilgore’s Main Street program has earned national honors for the third year in a row. The Texas Historical Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation have recognized Kilgore as one of the 56 National Main Street Cities in Texas.
