Why Boys & Girls Clubs?
Quality of place in Kilgore, Texas. See for your self:
Just another example from the Kilgore News Herald of Kilgore working together for sustainability:

During a recession cities throughout the nation are looking for opportunities to retain, expand and recruit businesses that will grow the tax base and employ citizens as well as invigorate their community’s economic health.
Dr. Seuss is quoted as saying, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”
Business retention and expansion is important to Kilgore, Texas. Incentives and relocations may garner a lot of press, but an ongoing business support program is what builds an economy. KEDC serves as an ambassador to link businesses to training, information, and assistance.
The members of North East Texas Economic Development Roundtable have just elected me to a one-year term as president of the organization. I have been marketing chair for the past three years and have seen the power of marketing regionally. I believe this regionalism should be taken to the next level, and it is my goal to take it there.
As I begin my term as President of the North East Texas Economic Developers' Roundtable and set goals for the organization, I am pleased that professional economic developers in East Texas have chosen to work together. While other groups are dedicated to regional marketing, NETEDR remains special because its mission is to equip regional economic developers with the skills necessary to grow our regional economy.
What does the Texas Two Step have to do with economic development? Or the Boys and Girls Club? Or any other philanthropic organization, for that matter? It has to do with the business climate in Kilgore, what others may call quality of life. And it's important to economic development.
One of the strategic goals of KEDC is to foster a business climate and quality of life that is conducive to business and employee retention. To that end, I am a volunteer for the Kilgore unit of the Boys & Girls Club. Four Star Cinema is hosting the Kilgore unit for a viewing of G-Force with popcorn and a drink.
